Jeep to Bring Back Renegade in Europe by 2030

Jeep confirms Renegade returns to Europe by 2030 in a six-model line-up covering 90% of the SUV market; multi-energy strategy replaces BEV-only plans.

Scope of change

  1. Jeep will reintroduce the Renegade in Europe by 2030, expanding the range to up to six models.
  2. The previous Renegade logged over 610,000 European deliveries after its 2014 debut; the Avenger has sold nearly 300,000 since 2022.
  3. Stellantis ended Renegade production at Melfi, Italy, in 2025; the model left the US and Canada in 2023.
  4. Jeep will re-enter the D-SUV segment with the Recon, followed by another D-segment model due in 2028.
  5. FaSTLAne 2030 is a €60bn ($67.17bn) five-year Stellantis turnaround plan announced in May 2026.

Jeep plans to reintroduce the Renegade nameplate in Europe by 2030 as it expands its continental range to as many as six models, brand Europe head Xavier Peugeot confirmed at the Paris Motor Show.

The return is a volume play. The Renegade recorded more than 610,000 European deliveries after its 2014 debut, while the smaller Avenger — Jeep's first fully electric SUV — has racked up nearly 300,000 sales since its 2022 launch. Peugeot said the Renegade will return to underpin the brand's volume alongside the Avenger.

Jeep expects the expanded range to address around 90% of Europe's SUV market.

Where does the Renegade fit?

The new Renegade will sit between the Avenger and the Compass in Jeep's European line-up. That fills a gap Stellantis created itself: it ended Renegade production at Melfi, Italy, in 2025 after more than ten years of activity, having already discontinued the model in the US and Canada in 2023.

No production site for the successor has been named. That's the open question for Melfi and other Stellantis plants in the region, and one the company has yet to answer publicly.

Beyond the B-SUV core, Jeep will re-enter Europe's D-SUV segment (large family SUVs). The Recon comes first, followed by another D-segment model due in 2028.

What does the roadmap change for powertrains?

Plenty. Jeep's pipeline will use a "multi-energy", "multi-platform" approach rather than exclusively battery-electric drivetrains. The company said the strategy retains powertrain choice across regions, and every European model will offer a four-wheel-drive variant — a signature Jeep capability carried across the range regardless of energy source.

Beyond 2030, Jeep intends to develop compact, electrified urban mobility solutions, pushing the brand further down into city-car territory than the Avenger already does.

Peugeot said: "We confirm our 2030 roadmap, based on capable, compact and electrified vehicles, inspired by Jeep's iconic DNA, such as Renegade, still providing freedom to go wherever life takes our customers."

The platform underneath

The Renault-Nissan-style breadth of the plan rests on Stellantis' new architecture work. Separately, Stellantis announced in August that the next-generation Jeep Cherokee will be the first US vehicle assembled on the STLA One platform.

Stellantis describes STLA One as a cornerstone of its FaSTLAne 2030 strategy, announced in May 2026. FaSTLAne 2030 is the company's latest turnaround plan, a €60bn ($67.17bn) five-year programme intended to accelerate growth and profit.

What to watch next: the launch timing and build location for the new Renegade, the Recon's European market entry, and the first production milestones of STLA One under the FaSTLAne budget.
